Sorry to say the answer is currently out of our hands !
Google Chrome frame is a technology that allows us to draw the new grid in a way that Internet explorer 7 an 8 cannot support, all other browsers can and Internet Explorer has only just caught up with IE9.

However Windows XP cannot be upgraded to use IE9
MotelMate users using Window Vista or Windows 7 CAN update and turn Google Chrome Frame off.
The only options for Windows XP users right now are;

use the Mk2 grid or
update to Windows 7 (not exactly our first choice) or
tolerate the crashing which can range from daily to once or twice a week (feedback has been very varied on this)

We continue to monitor the GoogleChrome Frame forums to see what Google are doing, when a fix is sent out it will arrive automatically on your PC..... just like the faulty one did.

Just as a follow up to my last post, we have received a new version of a file called a plug in that goes in the "Extensions Folder" in your MotelMate folder. We 're not sure if this will fix the problem, but as we're try all avenues of investigation we have placed it with a few clients who are crashing regularly and will wait to see if it improves the situation.

If you'd like to try it yourself and give us some feedback you can download the files from

Take the file called "" from the archive and drop it into the extensions folder described above, it can replace the old version that is currently there !

We are doing our best to pursue other alternatives but the long term solution is to use IE9 on Windows 7 or any version on a Mac

Best Wishes

For those who may be seriously considering the move to Windows 7 to fix this issue, go with the 32bit version of Windows 7.  Although 64bit paves the way to the future, the 64bit web libraries have serious bugs, in that parts of the grid can turn black.  Microsoft will eventually fix this one day... so if you want to be on the cutting edge great go 64bit, but it can be painful and not currently recommended.

Just to let you know that the problem with Google Chrome frame now appears to have been fixed by Google !

We didn't get any kind of reply to our queries but our research indicates it just works now !

To reinstall Google Chrome Frame, go to
Home menu > Manager Tab > Advanced Options
Go to File Library > Developer Options

Turn off the "Disable Chrome Frame" check box and restart MotelMate.
MotelMate will do the rest and reinstall all the software that needs to be reinstalled
